Wendover paths

The Bacombe Lane bridge (over the Chiltern Line and A413) is now closed. Access to the lane is via the Bacombe Link Road and Ellesborough Road - which has been re-aligned approx 50m to the NW, crossing the works on a temporary bridge.

WEN/13A has been diverted around the edge of the field it crossed, but is unlikely to remain open much longer.

The next crossing point S of Wendover is at Rocky Lane, but the A413 south of Grove Farm roundabout is unsafe for walkers and cyclists, since HS2 have removed the verges on both sides of the road for over 1/4 of a mile.

Trail Diversions

The Ridgeway

After crossing the Chiltern Line & A413, turn right onto the Ellesborough Road diversion. Turn left onto the new Bacombe Lane link (at the pedestrian crossing). The Ridgeway footpath (WEN/15A/2) is 50m on the right.

Aylesbury Ring

Continue on the (old) Ellesborough Road, footpath WEN/6/2 has been diverted along the western works boundary fence

Aylesbury Outer Ring

Bacombe Lane bridge is closed; follow South Street, then the Ridgeway diversion as above. Probably best to follow The Ridgeway to the top of Coombe Hill (for better views), rather than taking the Bacombe Link Road to rejoin the original route.
