Chiltern Way -
diversion of the diversion

The diversion alongside Bowood Lane (TLE/3, WEN/37) is closed from 28th April to 2nd May, while EKFB paint some white lines on their new road. The diversion is rather long due to other crossings also being closed.

There is no footway alongside the A413, the going is rough and the traffic fast. Leather Lane is a single track sunken lane, currently taking extra traffic since Rocky Lane is currently closed, also by HS2. We do not recommend this route.

Clockwise, Eastbound

Remain on the South Bucks way after Cobblers Hill (map 29 point B) and follow it down to Gt Missenden. After the Black Horse PH it enters the Misbourne water meadows ; just before the gate out there is an underpass (under the A413) to the left. This leads to the Chiltern Heritage trail (signed), folow this to The Lee. There is a manned crossing of the HS2 works, with security to escort you over.

Just before The Lee, TLE/42/2 becomes a farm track. Follow this to the village greeen (and the Cock and Rabbit). Keep right towards Lee Common, and turn left next to a small pond, to take the diversion TLE/27/1, 16/5, 18(F)/1(dashed orange on the map) to rejoin the CW at Swan Bottom (point J on map 29 in the guide).

Anti-clockwise, Westbound

After crossing Arrewig Lane you reach point J on the CW guide. Keep straight on , leaving the original CW, to follow the orange dashed diversion TLE/18(F), 16/5, 27/1 . Turn right on reaching the road, and keep left at the green, to follow the road leaving opposite the Cock and Rabbit. Follow this track, the Chiltern Heritage trail, across Potter Row, turning right then left onto GMI/2 to cross the works. Take the underpass under the A413, then turn right onto the South Bucks way. Follow the South Bucks way to rejoin the CW at Cobblers Hill, map 29 point B in the guide.
